BIOGRAPHIE:

Nicolas Ruel est né à Montréal en 1973. Il étudie en relations internationales et en cinéma avant d'entreprendre de multiples voyages formateurs, réalisant entre autres des photoreportages à Moscou (2000) et à Angkor Wat (2002). Il collabore à différents magazines d'architecture et de design, avec le Cirque du Soleil, Lalala Human Steps ainsi que de nombreuses compagnies de danse contemporaine. Il présente entre 2006 et 2010 ses séries photographiques - Inox, Elements et 8 secondes - au Canada à la Galerie Orange (Montréal), Galerie Lacerte art contemporain (Québec), Thompson Landry Gallery (Toronto) et en France à la Galerie Seine 51 (Paris). Ses œuvres font également partie de multiples foires internationales d’art contemporain à Toronto, Miami, Palm Beach et Paris. Il remporte quatre Grand Prix au concours LUX en 2010, un Grand Prix LUX et le Premier Prix CAPIC en 2004. On retrouve ses œuvres dans plusieurs collections privées et corporatives au Canada et à l’étranger.

Nicolas Ruel was born in Montreal in 1973. After studying in international relations and film, he undertook a series of formative trips, producing two notable photo essays on Moscow (2000) and Angkor Wat (2002), among others. He has worked with a number of architecture and design magazines as well as with Cirque du Soleil, Lalala Human Steps, and various contemporary dance companies. Between 2006 and 2010, his photographic series Inox, Elements, and 8 secondes were featured at Galerie Orange in Montreal, Galerie Lacerte art contemporain in Quebec City, Thompson Landry Gallery in Toronto, and Galerie Seine 51 in Paris. His works have also been displayed at international contemporary art fairs in Toronto, Miami, Palm Beach, and Paris. He received the 2010 LUX Awards’ Grand Prix in four categories, adding to a previous Grand Prix LUX and a CAPIC Premier Prix from 2004. His work can be found in many private and corporate collections throughout Canada and internationally.
