Andres SERRANO, né le 15 août 1950 à New York, est un photographe contemporain américain connu principalement pour ses photos et portraits de corps.
La famille d’Andres Serrano est d’origine hondurienne et afro-cubaine. Le jeune homme est élevé dans un strict environnement religieux catholique.
De 1967 à 1969, il suit des études d’art à la Brooklyn Museum Art School. Travaillant et vivant à New York, il présente sa première exposition importante en 1985.
Son travail, sous forme de séries photographiques, s’intéresse essentiellement aux problèmes sociaux et aux questions liées au sexe et à la religion.
Andres Serrano, born in 1950 in New York, is an American contemporary photograph. He is mostly well-known for his photos and body portraits. From 1967 to 1969 he was studying art in Brooklyn Museum Art School. He works and lives in New York, his first important exhibition was in 1985. His photographic series are mainly concerned on social problems and questions of sex and religion.
